Theft by Taking Awareness & Accountability Program
This program goes beyond legal definitions to help participants truly understand the impact of theft — on victims, families, communities, and their own future. Grounded in Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 16-8-2), the course walks through the legal distinctions between theft by taking, shoplifting, and theft by deception, the real financial and legal consequences participants may face, and the psychological factors — impulse control, peer pressure, rationalization — that often lead to poor decisions.
Rather than focusing only on punishment, this program is built around growth: understanding consequences, recognizing emotional triggers, accepting responsibility, and developing healthier coping strategies moving forward. The course closes with a personal reflection and a final exam to reinforce key concepts.
What’s included:
Approx. 2.5–3 hours to complete
8 lessons covering Georgia law, community impact, psychology, and prevention
Practical activities: scenario matching, rationalization challenges, and self-reflection exercises
A final 10-question exam to confirm understanding
Curated legal and mental health resources
In each lesson, you will need to complete the reflection form and remain on the lesson for the required 60-minute reflection period. The timer will continue counting while you are actively viewing the lesson.
Once the full 60 minutes have passed and you have completed your reflection, mark the lesson as Completed. You can then continue to the next lesson.
